Burnley frustrated West Ham United as both teams shared the spoils on Sunday in the Premier League.

Burnley started in a 4-4-2 formation with a front two of Jay Rodriguez and Chris Wood.
Burnley made three attacking substitutions in the second half.
West Ham started in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Lukasz Fabianski between the sticks.
West Ham used up only two of three substitutions as they replaced Manuel Lanzini and Benrahma with Pablo Fornals and Nikola Vlasic.
Jay Rodriguez generated the highest xG on the pitch with his three shots on goal. James Tarkowski attempted most passes in the final third and played more long balls.
Burnley attempted nine shots on goal and managed to get only one shot on target. They had a very low shot on target percentage and failed to keep their shots on target.
West Ham attempted a total of 14 shots on goal and only managed to keep three shots on target. They had only six shots from inside the box and attempted eight shots on goal from outside the penalty area.
Both teams had a similar xG throughout the game, and both teams created a high threat on the opposition defenses. Said Benrahma generated the highest xG for West Ham and had one shot on target.
Burnley played more long passes and failed to complete most of these passes. They failed to complete 127 passes and had a lower pass accuracy.
Vladimir Coufal attempted the most passes for the Hammers but failed to complete 35 passes.
Burnley attempted most passes on the wider areas of the pitch and attempted 15 crosses into the penalty area. The above visual suggests Burnley played more high passes into the opposition’s half.
West Ham played most of their passes in the final third and attempted a number of crosses into the penalty area. They attempted 27 crosses into the penalty area, and Coufal attempted the most crosses from the right flank.
Burnley did not create a significant threat on the West Ham defense but had a couple of high xT creation zones on the left flank. Matthew Lowton generated the highest xT from his passes.
Dwight McNeil was able to generate a high xT from the dribbles he attempted but failed to make the right pass.
West Ham generated a high xT from the right flank with Vladimir Coufal generating the highest xT with his crosses.
Five of the West Ham players generated a high xT from their passes. Declan Rice had a high overall xT from his dribbles and passes.
Burnley won 50% of the defensive duels they attempted but failed to recover possession of the ball.
Ben Mee won most aerial duels for Burnley and only lost two aerial duels from the 11 duels he attempted.
Burnley attempted most loose ball duels in the middle third. Ben Mee and Jay Rodriguez each won three loose ball duels.
West Ham only won six of the 19 defensive duels they attempted in the defensive third. Arthur Masuaku won three defensive duels out of the four he competed for.
Tomas Soucek attempted a total of 16 aerial duels and won eight.
West Ham won 41.1% of the 56 loose ball duels they attempted. They won almost 100% of the 50-50 challenges in the defensive third and were able to recover possession of the ball.
All the other teams in the top six except West Ham United won their respective fixtures. The Hammers now only have a one-point lead over Manchester United and are eight points behind third-placed Manchester City.
