Liverpool started in a 4-3-3 formation, with a front three of Luis Diaz, Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool made three substitutions towards the end of the game as they tried to secure all three points.

West Ham United started in a 4-4-1-1 formation, with Michail Antonio in the number nine role, and Pablo Fornals playing behind him.

The average positions of the West Ham players indicate that even though they started in a different formation, they played in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Both Liverpool and West Ham had several attempts on the goal. Liverpool generated an xG of 2.59, while West Ham generated an xG of 2.01. The Reds had a pass accuracy rate of 88.5%, while West Ham completed 75.1% of their passes.

Luis Diaz had a brilliant game for Liverpool and generated the highest xG than any other player on the pitch. Diaz attempted the most number of dribbles and took five attempts on goal. It was Pablo Fornals who generated the highest xG for West Ham.

Liverpool attempted 21 shots on goal and had five on target. They attempted 10 shots from inside the penalty area and only had two on target.

West Ham United managed a total of 13 attempts on goal, and they had four shots on target. They had 30.77% of their efforts on target.

The xT timeline indicates that both teams created several chances in both halves, but West Ham United put up a much better performance in the second half.

Trent Alexander-Arnold attempted the most number of passes for the Reds, and he made most passes to Jordan Henderson.

Aaron Cresswell attempted the most number of passes for the Hammers, and he made most passes towards Manuel Lanzini.

Liverpool attempted most of their passes from the right flank as Trent Alexander-Arnold attempted six crosses and one smart pass from the right.

West Ham tried to play out from the back and attempted most passes from the defensive third. They attempted only 11 crosses into the penalty area. Said Benrahma put in most crosses into the penalty area.

Liverpool generated the highest xT from the right flank. Alexander-Arnold generated the highest xT for the Reds from the right flank.

Luis Diaz attempted 11 dribbles and generated an xT of 0.181. Jordan Henderson did get into great positions in the final third but failed to make the right pass at times, which is why he generated a negative xT.

West Ham United had xT creation zones on both sides of the pitch, but they struggled to create any significant chances in the final third. Pablo Fornals generated the highest xT for the Hammers from his 33 passes.

Pablo Fornals did generate a high xT from his passes but failed to create a high xT from the dribbles he attempted.

Liverpool attempted most of their defensive duels on the right flank and won nine of the 20 defensive duels they attempted on the right.

Ibrahima Konate and Van Dijk won most aerial duels for their team and were able to deal with the aerial balls played into the box.

Liverpool won only 31.4% of the 33 loose ball duels they attempted in the centre of the pitch.

West Ham United did win half of the defensive duels they competed for, but they struggled to win back possession of the ball. Lanzini won five duels from the 12 he attempted.

Michail Antonio won the most number of aerial duels for West Ham as most of the long balls were directed to the striker. He won four of the 11 duels he attempted.

West Ham won more than 50% of their loose ball duels and were successful in recovering possession from loose balls. West Ham did well to keep the goal margin to only one goal and defended well against the Liverpool attack.

Liverpool imposed a huge threat from the four corners they attempted. Trent generated an xT of 0.44, while Robertson had an xT of 0.66 from the corner kicks.

Pablo Fornals generated an xT of 0.53 from the three corners he took for West Ham, but West Ham were unable to capitalize from these situations.
