West Ham started in a 4-2-3-1 formation with a double pivot of Rice and Soucek.

West Ham United made only one change in the second half as they replaced Benrahma with Lanzini.

Watford started in a 4-4-2 formation with a front two of Josh King and Dennis.

Watford used their three substitutions in the second half as they introduced fresh legs into the game.

West Ham generated an xG of 1.339 as they attempted more attacking actions than Watford. West Ham won 42.9% of their offensive duels, whereas Watford won 49.1% offensive duels. West Ham also dominated possession of the ball as they had 59% of possession.

Said Benrahma generated the highest xG of any other player on the pitch as he had an xG of 0.60 with his three shots on goal. West Ham also attempted 20 crosses into the penalty area.

West Ham had a total of eight shots on goal with three on target. They had 37.5% of their shots on target.

Watford had six shots on goal but they had only one shot on target. They failed to keep most of their shots on target and generated an xG of 0.54.

The xT timeline indicates that both teams created several chances throughout the game, but it was West Ham who created better chances as they imposed a higher threat on their opponents.

Vladimir Coufal attempted the most number of passes for West Ham and made 16 passes to Craig Dawson.

It was Kamara who attempted most passes for his team, and he made nine passes towards Cleverley.

West Ham progressed into the opposition’s half from the wider areas of the pitch and also attempted several crosses into the penalty area. Cresswell and Coufal attempted seven crosses each.

Watford attempted most of their passes in the midfield area and also attempted three smart passes. They attempted 11 crosses into the penalty area.

West Ham United had high xT creation zones on the right flank. Aaron Cresswell generated the highest xT from the 75 passes he completed.

Watford attempted most of their attacks from the left flank as they had higher xT creation zones there. Moussa Sissoko generated the highest xT from his passes.

Dennis and King were able to generate a high xT from the dribbles they attempted but failed to make the right pass when they got into the final third.

Craig Dawson won the most number of defensive duels for the Hammers as he won five out of the eight duels he attempted.

Tomas Soucek won eight of his 15 aerial duels, while Jarrod Bowen won half of the duels he attempted in the opposition’s penalty area.

West Ham won most of their loose ball duels in the middle third as they won 13 of the 18 duels they attempted in this area. Soucek won five of his six loose ball duels.

Watford only managed to win eight defensive duels where they were able to win back ball possession.

Samir won the most aerial duels for Watford in the defensive third. Josh King was a threat in the opposition’s penalty area as he won six of his five aerial duels.

Watford won 42.9% of the total loose ball duels they attempted. Josh King tried to apply high pressure on the West Ham defenders as he attempted a total of 10 loose ball duels.
